How to create a mask in construct 2 | HTML5

It’s been a while since my last post, I’m very busy with developing games for clients. For one of the games I needed to create a mask. It is very easy and quick to do in construct.

I used this in a game where you use a flashlight to find certain objects.

In your top layer set “Force own texture” to yes and “transparent” to no. Create a sprite in that layer and set the sprites “Blend mode” to “Destination out.”

That’s all there is to it. When I’ve finished the game I will post it here and you can see it in action.

    • Hello Mohan,

If you are just a beginner with construct2 I suggest you first try make some smaller games to get a better understanding of construct. A game like draw something is pretty complex with the online sharing. Only multiplayer has not yet been added to construct, but there are some ways to get it done but they are very complex. This will probably get added to construct in the future, making things a lot easier.

For leaderboards take a look at the clio plugin: http://clay.io/docs/construct2
